Pricing for the brand-new Nissan Juke Nismo will start from £19,995 on-the-road in the UK for the front-wheel drive model with a 6-speed manual when the Japanese company begins to accept orders in January 2013 with first deliveries set for March.
That's only £1,700 more than the Juke Tekna Edition with the 187bhp (190PS) 1.6-liter turbocharged engine linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox upon which the Nismo is based. For the record, there's also the entry level Accent model with the same powertrain starting at £17,395 OTR.
What you get above the Tekna is a Nismo-tuned engine delivering an extra 9bhp and 7 lb-ft (10Nm) of torque for a total of 197Hp (200PS) at 6,000 rpm and 184 lb-ft (250Nm) between 2,400-4,800 rpm.
In front-wheel drive, six-speed manual guise, the Juke Nismo can accelerate from 0-62mph (100km/h) in 7.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 134mph (216km/h). According to Nissan, its fuel economy and CO2 emissions remain unchanged over the Tekna model at 40.9mpg UK and 159g/km respectively.
Buyers can also order the car with all-wheel drive and a CVT automatic gearbox, with pricing for these versions to be announced at a later date.
Together with the slightly more potent engine, Nismo engineers tweaked the suspension that gets 10 percent stiffer springs and different settings, while the steering is more direct.
The small crossover also looks the part with a new bodykit, 18-inch alloy wheels shrouded in 225/45 R18 performance rubber and a series of upgrades inside such as the suede-trimmed sport seats, Alcantara and leather trim for the steering wheel and black headliner.
Nissan said it will offered the Juke Nismo in in three colours named Storm White, Pearl Black and Blade Silver.
